"What A Shock It Was To Learn That Paraffin Came From The Bottom Of A Barrel Of Oil"

Hi!  My name is Marlenea.  At the age of 13, babysitting money in hand, I purchased a candle making book, some wax and wicks.  This began my candle making “career”. 

It was so much fun!  I made candles in all sizes and shapes, from molds to sand candles, to dipping tapers – a fine art.

As all kids love to do, I remember dipping my fingers into the wax, peeling it off and thinking, "where does this stuff come from?”

None of my candle books ever said.  Bees wax obviously came from bees, but paraffin... I wondered!

Looking back, I realize that as a child I made an assumption:  bees wax = natural, so paraffin = natural. 

If it were dangerous, there surely would be warning labels, right?  How many of you thought along those same lines? 

In the late spring of 2004, I picked up a Natural Life News Magazine and started reading an article on Soy Wax.
